Position Title: Senior Homelessness Project Worker

Location: Hinckley

Hours of duty: 37 hours rota basis Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am-4pm

Salary: £14.64 per hour / £ 28,244. 82 per annum

About us:

Falcon Support Services provides supported accommodation and community projects to those that are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or vulnerable in the community.

Our service helps vulnerable people by providing safe and secure accommodation with our staff working alongside clients to help them develop their skills, so they can move away from homelessness to living independently and positively contribute to their community.

Role Purpose:

This role works alongside residents who are living in semi-independence to offer support for an independent and positive future.

The role is challenging and rewarding with opportunities to learn, grow, and develop within Falcon Support Services. In this varied role, you will

  • Provide high quality accommodation, housing management and support to homeless people.
  • Empower clients to make positive changes and informed choices in moving towards independent living.
  • Assess each individual, support needs and work with them on a mutually agreed support plan/programme to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies to maximise service delivery

You must have a genuine interest in helping people to make changes in their lives and an understanding of the types of issues that affect those that are homeless, as well as a dedication to Falcon Support Services values and performance standards.

Please note this role will involve lone working.

Falcon Support Services are equipped to train and support people who do not have relevant skills and experience but do have the right values, behaviours, and attitudes.

Main Responsibilities

Leadership/General

To take a lead responsibility for daily operations for specific projects to ensure efficient service delivery as directed by the Project Manager. Tasks include but not limited to;

  • Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the project, ensuring high-quality, efficient service delivery and contributing to the smooth running of the service.
  • Provide leadership and support to colleagues through regular supervision, team meetings, case conferences, reflective practice, and mentoring of students and volunteers.
  • Manage referrals, admissions, occupancy levels, and voids by conducting initial interviews and completing accurate needs and risk assessments.
  • Manage a caseload of clients, developing, implementing, and reviewing personalised support plans that promote independence, positive outcomes, and successful move-on into independent living.
  • Support individuals to access and sustain accommodation, including assisting with setting up a new home, maintaining tenancies, and reducing abandonments and evictions.
  • Empower clients to engage in education, training, employment, volunteering, and other opportunities that improve wellbeing and independence.
  • Provide advice and practical support with homelessness applications, housing options, tenancy matters, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Universal Credit, and other welfare benefits.
  • Work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector agencies, housing providers, support services, funders, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, colleagues, partner organisations, and members of the public, promoting a positive image of Falcon Support Services, including representing the organisation at forums and professional events.
  • Work in accordance with Falcon Support Services' Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) Framework, applying psychologically informed and trauma-aware approaches to support delivery.
  • Monitor rent arrears, personal charges, service charges, licence or tenancy agreements, and ensure accurate service monitoring records are maintained.
  • Maintain accurate client records, support documentation, risk assessments, and case notes, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and quality standards.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of clients by identifying and reporting concerns, maintaining awareness of risks, and responding appropriately to emergencies and safeguarding issues.
  • Carry out routine building inspections, monitor access to the premises, report maintenance issues, and undertake practical duties required to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and working practices that support high-quality service delivery.
  • Attend mandatory training, meetings, and continuing professional development activities to maintain knowledge, skills, and best practice.

Administration

  • Ensuring adequate staffing of accommodation projects, with rota management, and participation in the on-call rota.
  • To monitor and respond to Service charge/Housing Benefit arrears of current and previous clients. Issuing rent letters and aiding the successful collection of service charge/rents.
  • To ensure that all required documentation for Housing Benefit is completed and actioned for clients moving in and out of the project. Assisting in applying for eligible benefits including Housing/Council Tax benefit, reducing deductions and appeals.
  • Manage and respond to any complaints received in line with the Complaints Policy.
  • To ensure all information and documentation received in relation to individual clients is accurately inputted on the services IT Systems.
  • To complete and provide any documentation, reports, statistical information, and any other information required by Falcon Support Services and/or any other agency.
  • To assist in the development, and implementation of procedures and codes of working practice to form part of a comprehensive quality approach to service delivery.

Compliance/Health & Safety

  • Ensuring initial interviews with clients are performed and ensuring relevant Risk Assessments and Needs Assessments are completed accurately.
  • To ensure that the terms of License Agreements are adhered to and address any problems arising from this requirement. Making sure Support Arrangements are put into place and monitored to prevent evictions.
  • Liaise with contractors and report and sign off any maintenance works.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety checks are completed, including Building Checks, Fire Checks and Water Temperature checks.
  • To be alert to the health and well-being of all clients, reporting any concerns to the Project Manager and/or appropriate agencies
  • Report all incidents of H&S, or any other serious issue, completing an incident report
  • Report any safeguarding or substantial risk concerns appropriately.
  • To adhere to all of Falcon Support Services policies and procedures as well as any specific local procedures
  • Due to the nature of work, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and will therefore require you to disclose all criminal convictions and comply with a Criminal Records Bureau check.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Line Management experience
  • Ability to work in a customer care and quality focused manner
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations, aggressive behaviours, and handle conflict appropriately
  • Experience working with homeless and/or vulnerable client groups within supported housing, hostel, or community settings.
  • Experience empowering individuals to make informed choices, build independence, and achieve positive outcomes using a strengths-based and person-centred approach.
  • Experience completing support plans, risk assessments, needs assessments, and maintaining accurate case records and reports.
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively, prioritise competing demands, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality support.
  • Ability to work in a customer-focused, quality-driven manner, delivering services with empathy, professionalism, and respect.
  • Experience managing challenging situations, de-escalating conflict, responding appropriately to aggressive behaviour, and working safely in lone-working environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and partner agencies.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and developing effective partnership working with external agencies.
  • Physically able to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations and undertake general housekeeping duties as required.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of people from diverse cultural, social, and racial backgrounds, with a demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding responsibilities, data protection, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
  • Understanding of the needs of people experiencing homelessness, multiple disadvantage, mental ill health, substance and alcohol misuse, behavioural challenges, and social exclusion.
  • Knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, welfare benefits, advocacy, and the support available to vulnerable individuals.
  • Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act, Modern Slavery, Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE), hoarding, self-harm, suicide prevention, stress management, vicarious trauma, and staff wellbeing.
  • Skilled in assessment and support planning, risk assessment, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, strengths-based practice, and solution-focused approaches.
  • Demonstrates empathy, honesty, reliability, flexibility, respect, inclusivity, professionalism, self-awareness, and a non-judgemental approach in all interactions.
  • Proactive, reflective, and committed to continuous learning, personal development, and delivering high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence and positive outcomes.

  • Willingness to undergo a satisfactory enhanced DBS check
  • Have access to a vehicle for business purposes
  • Hold a valid driving licence
