HOOF homeless football tournament!

What better way is there to spend your weekend than raising money to support those in need?! The team had a blast playing 5 a side in a football tournament, eating tasty snacks, trying their luck with games, looking at stalls, getting crafty and enjoying presentations.

For just £3 entry for adults and £1 for kids each player had the chance to win a Leicester City Shirt, got involved in a penalty shootout and had the chance to meet Filbert the Fox.

There was something for everyone to enjoy, making Hoof homeless charity football day perfect for a family day out. Adults could either get involved in playing football, spend time looking at the stalls, get involved in crafts, or enjoy some delicious snacks!

“The day as a whole brought together a number of people from different backgrounds, whether it was addiction, homelessness or even people who have suffered with mental health issues. Football has a way of bringing people together, it helps include everyone so that everyone feels equal and not judged by there past” Lee Flannigan, our Senior Community Harm Reduction worker says.

At Falcon Support Services we believe in second chances. We support individuals on their journey to independence by providing them with recovery, community and housing support. We've been helping those in need across Leicestershire for 20 years!

HOOF homeless football tournament is an event organized by Leicestershire and Rutland County FA in partnership with Turning Point and Falcon Support Services. The purpose of the event is to support those experiencing homelessness through football, as it brings a sense of community. Getting involved in a sport like football can also increase moods, self-esteem and allow people to engage with each other. This can result in them beginning to have a positive change.
