Homeless and hopeless, how Falcon Support Services help to overcome.

'When sleeping on someone's settee you feel in the way, even if they say you can stay for a time', is a quote that this resident shared, during her reflection of her time sofa surfing. No place of her own, feeling like a burden, she had no hope for the future; ‘I don’t know where I would have been and I didn’t care’.

But when moving into a shared accommodation, provided by Falcon Support Services, she noticed a change in her wellbeing. From the first moment of unpacking, she 'felt like crying', since she 'couldn't believe that it was' hers. This momentary glimpse of triumph was the catalyst to her new hope.

Through shared accommodation, she now not only had a place of her own, but an additional social circle. However, Falcon Support Services did not just stop there.

Activities, like 'Yap and Yum', within Falcon's 'Life Hub' granted an additional space to socialise; she felt part of something, she was no longer isolated.

Furthermore, she explained how the support workers were not ' supporting for supporting sake, but it’s the emotional connection'. Feeling like a part of the Falcon Family, she now is additionally supported by a psychologist, improving her mental health. Back on her medication, her mindset has improved, as she aspires to have her own place in the future.

This resident reflects how Falcon Support Services strives to not only provide a roof, but also a home. Whilst home is stereotypically four walls, it is also the feeling of belonging and comfort, something that this resident evidently experiences.
