What can be achieved in just one week when a community comes together with a shared purpose? At Falcon Support Services, the answer is clear- lasting change.
In March, Falcon Support Services launched its Sustainability Week, bringing together staff, volunteers, residents, and local businesses to transform an outdoor space into something meaningful and sustainable.
At the heart of the week was the creation of ‘Cookies Corner’, a unique space designed by one of our residents. Their vision has helped shape a welcoming environment focused on mental wellbeing, environmental awareness, and connection.
Over the course of the week, an incredible amount was achieved. Together, teams:

Alongside the physical transformation of the Allotment, several activities took place, encouraging wider community involvement and sustainable living:
Participants were encouraged to get outdoors, care for the environment, and take pride in the local community, with every step contributing to a greener future.

A practical session was held in the Life Hub where participants created simple draught excluders to help reduce heat loss in the home, promoting energy efficiency and cost-saving solutions!

This progress would not have been possible without the support of local organisations, including Cambridge & Counties Bank and BOAL Group. Their hands-on involvement ad commitment made a significant difference.
Residents, staff and volunteers also played a vital role, with growing interest from service users keen to get involved and be a part of the project.
Matt Taylor, who led on the allotment work and organised the initiative, said:
“I’m really proud of the engagement from local businesses, volunteers, residents, and the wider community. The project has sparked strong interest and led to a noticeable increase in participation at our allotment sessions. We’re excited to build on this momentum, growing green spaces and promoting sustainable, greener behaviours across our services and the wider community.”
While the environmental impact is important, this initiative is equally about wellbeing. The space has been designed to offer opportunities for fresh air, social connection, and meaningful activity, helping to reduce isolation and support positive mental health.
Staff are encouraged to use the space as part of support sessions, or simply to take time out and recharge.
Although Sustainability Week has come to an end, the work continues. Plans are underway to establish a dedicated ‘Green Team’, alongside structured sessions such as gardening activities and a watering rota, ensuring the space is used safely and consistently.
We are also working towards a grand opening coinciding with ‘The Great Big Green Week 2026’ on 10th of June at 11am, a milestone that will mark the next stage of this project. Members of the community are warmly invited to attend and join us in celebrating this achievement!
We are continuing to welcome support from local businesses and organisations. Whether through volunteering, donations, or partnerships, every contribution helps us create something lasting for the community.
If you would like to get involved, please get in touch with our team.
Together, we are building more than just a space- we are building opportunity, connection, and positive change.
