Falcon Centre Staff Celebrate Impact and Innovation at Annual Away Day

3 Nov 2025

Falcon Support Services held their annual Impact Day. Dedicated to reflection, innovation, and celebration. The Impact Day brought together staff teams from across housing, recovery, wellbeing and community support services to share ideas, review our impact, and shape priorities for the year ahead as well as a chance for business leaders to say thank you for all the work the staff have done.

Celebrating Social Impact

The event opened with CEO Marie Davis and Deputy CEO Rachel Hall welcoming staff and reflecting on Falcon’s growth and achievements. Marie highlighted how the Impact Day plays a vital role in the charity’s ongoing development. “The main aim is to demonstrate our impact and celebrate all the staff for their incredible work,” said Marie. “These days always inform us what we do. We take the learnings forward into real changes - looking at co-production, social value, and how we can continue to make a difference next year.”

Marie spoke passionately about the charity’s mission to reconnect those most excluded from society. “The people we work with don’t become homeless overnight,” she said. “There’s often a lifetime of hurt, trauma and disconnection. Everything we do is about helping people rebuild, reconnect, and be seen and heard again.”

We help to access housing, learn new skills, education, training, and knowledge that inspires service users to gain confidence, self-belief, self-worth, and become more independent. Data shared during the Impact Day highlighted the complex health challenges many services users face, noting that the average life expectancy for someone who is homeless is 43 for women and 45 for men. So many homeless people die on the streets in the UK, and we at Falcon Support Services provide a real impact that not only improves their life expectancy but delivers quality of life and dignity.

Supporting Wellbeing and Professional Growth

Throughout the day, staff took part in discussions around our work as a psychologically informed environment (PIE), and a focus on mental wellbeing. Megan led a session exploring mindfulness, stress responses, and the importance of self-care for staff working in high-pressure environments. In another presentation, Carmel Martin focused on the newly refurbished Falcon’s Life Hub - a soon-to-launch initiative providing emotional support, education, and wellbeing resources to service users and the wider community. Sean Payne, Falcon’s Co-production Lead spoke about Co-Production – a collaborative approach to decision making that involves everyone who has a stake in Falcon Support Services. It is about all of us coming together – whether you are a service user or the CEO, we all have good ideas to help us get to the best we are.”

Achievements and Measurable Impact

Falcon Support Services' ongoing projects and partnerships were celebrated, from expanding housing in Hinckley to collaborations with HMP Leicester and the Homeless Open Opportunities Football (HOOF) League. New initiatives such as Make a House a Home, Winter Beds, Safer Streets and emotional wellbeing support through the Neighbourhood Mental Health Café have all contributed to positive outcomes.

Environmental Action and the Green Heroes Initiative

Jason Hamilton presented Falcon’s growing commitment to environmental sustainability, including the creation of a Green Heroes Working Group and partnerships with Universities and local eco-initiatives. He explained that Falcon is already reducing waste, recycling surplus food and furniture, and redistributing donated laptops to service users pursuing education or training. The charity also plans to move towards net zero emissions by 2030, supported by funding from the Leicestershire Collaborate to Accelerate Net Zero project. “It’s about doing good within our organisation, but also empowering our service users,” Jason said. “We want to show how sustainability can also save money and build resilience.”

Staff completed energy champion training, equipping frontline staff to help service users cut energy costs and spot scams. Upcoming initiatives include a draft excluder making workshop.

Social Value

As an organisation, achieved Level 1 Social Value UK Accreditation, with the help of Natasha Jolob, a consultant assisting us over the last year to measure impact and collect data. Natasha explained, “We are on a journey of continuous improvement and almost at level two and soon will get to level three.”

The estimated social return on investment Shows for every £1 invested, the charity creates £7 of social value. Find out more about our Social Value here

And the human impact speaks louder than figures, as Evie Hearne, who manages Jubilee House, a small project with six beds, for all ages said:

“One resident came to us after a relationship breakdown where he lost his job and house and was suicidal. After a few months we got his finances on track, so he is claiming everything to be able to afford independent living. We have done a lot of work with him on his emotional wellbeing, and he has been going to Beast’s Gym in Shepshed and he is now bidding to go into housing, has his own car and now sees his daughter again.

His testimonial read: “The staff have helped me turn my life around. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.”

Special thanks was also given to one of our longest standing volunteers who celebrated her 70th birthday and thanks for the outstanding service she has given the charity.

Looking Ahead

The 2025 Impact Day showcased not only the organisation’s dedication to its service users but also the collective spirit of its staff, proving once again that at Falcon, making a difference truly matters.

As the day concluded, Marie reflected on the charity’s journey and the importance of adapting to change. “We’ve grown because we’ve embraced change,” she said. “Our services have evolved through funding shifts, new challenges, and community needs - but the heart of Falcon remains the same, believing “Where you are today does not define your tomorrow.”.”
