Homeless charity release original Christmas song to combat cuts

27 Nov 2023

In light of Fridays announced decision by Leicestershire County Council to remove 100% of their funding for homelessness support. Falcon Support Services have released their 2023 Christmas song to raise funds and combat the cuts to save the centre.

You Shouldn’t Be Lonely This Christmas (We’re Here For You) was written and performed by staff and residents of our supported accommodations. With collaboration from Pedestrian charity during their ‘Concept’ project hosted at Falcon Support Services this October. And was recorded and produced by Clarence Street Studios.

You can listen to our song on our Spotifyand YouTube. We know you’re going to love it as much as we do. We would really appreciate your support in streaming, downloading and sharing The Falcon Collective’s Christmas hit. Add it to your Christmas playlist and share your enjoyment with us online on our social media.

We had hoped to release this song on a cheerier note, however due to the devastating decision from Leicestershire County Council to remove our funding for the next financial year, this song has launched us into a Save The Falcon Campaign.

The removal of this funding will result in the closure of our 30-bed provision (The Falcon Centre) if we cannot secure £210,000 by the end of March 2024 from our various avenues of the Save The Falcon campaign.

#TeamFalcon remain positive and will continue fighting for the current and future Falcon service users to support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness across Leicestershire.

Our Christmas song and music video truly captures the community spirit of Falcon Support Services. Thank you to Pedestrian, Clarence Street Studios and Josh Penlington for your involvement in the making of the song and music video. And thank you to our staff and residents who stepped outside of their comfort zones to sing and dance along in the making of our music video.

Stream the video on YouTube to see the heart-warming unity of Team Falcon.

The direct effects of closure of The Falcon Centre stretch much further than the 100 people experiencing homelessness who are accommodated here in a single year. It is from this hub that we deliver our vital face to face drop in which has 50-60 daily visits from members of the community to access a multitude of our services such as... housing support and advice, help accessing benefits, employability coaching, help in gaining qualifications, harm reduction support including needle exchange and advice on how to stay safe, recovery support, hot drinks and subsidised meals to assist in the rising cost of living crisis, signposting to other services, laundry and shower facilities for rough sleepers, assistance in signing up to a GP....

We could go on...

Unfortunately, Leicestershire County Council have ignored the 74% of the public who disagreed with the proposal to remove the funding.

Your support and donations are as vital as ever now. If you want to help #SaveTheFalcon go to our campaign to donate.

We have currently secured £23,000 of alternative funding and with your help we CAN raise the remainder.

You Shouldn’t be Lonely This Christmas, and this Christmas shouldn’t be The Falcon Centre’s last....
