News and events News World Homeless Day World Homeless Day Event The 10th October, World Homeless Day, sees partner agencies come together to deliver an awareness event at the Falcon Centre, 27-31 Pinfold Gate, Loughborough, LE11 1BE. Open 9.30am – 1.30pm, we would like to invite the community to join us to celebrate the work being done to tackle homelessness in Charnwood. Joined by Charnwood Borough Council, The Bridge, Nottingham Community Housing Association, Exaireo, Marios Tinenti Centre, Armed Forces Covenant and more, we’ll have information stalls and food and drinks available. The event will include a charity breakfast and lunch, cake sale and raffle where individuals can win a number of great prizes thanks to support from Experience Days https://www.experiencedays.co.uk/ who have donated a £50 vouchers, Imago who have donated a meal for two at their Burleigh Court Restaurant, Go Karting experience from Team Sport, a £10 Greggs Voucher and many more. We are so grateful for the support received from businesses and would like to thank their generosity. Hosted by Falcon Support Services, a registered charity providing 84 bed spaces in supported accommodation, accommodating 319 individuals in the last year, and community projects to those that are homeless or vulnerable in the community such as the Drop In. The ‘Drop-in’ is a service open to all, meeting vital needs in the community for those that are homeless, at risk of homelessness or socially isolated. In the last 12 months the Drop In has received 5,260 visits, served 3,853 meals and supported 441 individuals. “I would have lost my flat, been back living on the streets and starving without the support received from the staff and volunteers at the Drop In” The Drop-In is reliant on dedicated volunteers, and provides services including shower facilities, toiletries, care of address, storage lockers for rough sleepers, food, use of a washing machine, clothes donations and specialist support, signposting and completing referrals to try and prevent rough sleeping and social isolation, if you think you may be able to help, the charity encourages you to get in touch. As winter is approaching, they are encouraging good quality donations of warm clothes, coats, shoes and sleeping bags along with other items that can be found on their website www.falconsupportservices.org.uk and can be dropped off at 53-55 Queens Road, Loughborough, LE11 1HA.
