Falcon Support Services are celebrating after being awarded £10,000 of National Lottery funding to provide opportunities to Falcon Centre service users to participate in physical activity.

The grant, awarded through Sport England, will allow Falcon Support Services to support Sport England’s vision of “everyone in England regardless of age, background or level of ability feeling able to engage in sport or physical activity” by providing support to residents to participate in one or more of three activities; boxing, swimming, and walking.

Working with qualified ABA Coach Amo Sharma at Loughborough Boxing Club and fitness instructor Shaun Crowson who runs his own business, The Bomb Shelter we can provide real opportunities for fitness, motivation and positive change.

Falcon Support Services is a local charity providing supported accommodation and community projects such as the Drop In, a day centre and MUTO to help those that are homeless, at risk of homelessness, vulnerable or socially isolated in their community to live independently and positively contribute to their community.

Marie Davis, Chief Executive Officer said: “We are pleased to have been successful in this grant and want to thank everyone who plays the National Lottery, as we wouldn’t be able to do this without you. It is well established through research that physical activity in any form is a great way to keep you physically healthy as well as improving your mental wellbeing and we hope the support received will assist our service user’s progression from homelessness in to independence.”

National Lottery players raise £30m every week for good causes, funding arts, heritage, sports, voluntary and charity projects around the UK. For more information on good causes in your area go to www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk
